Live updates: Trump swornin as 47th president, welcomes in 'golden age'
Jan 20, 2025
President-elect Trump has been sworn-in as the nation's 47th president, only the second man in the nation's history to return to the Oval Office after a hiatus.
His inauguration is already ushering in a flurry of actions, including the intention to sign 10 executive orders on immigration, that will in part unwind rules and standards set in the intervening Biden era. He is planning to sign a handful of executive orders right after Monday's ceremony.
Trump began the day on Monday with a church service in Lafayette Square alongside his family shortly before 9 a.m. local time Monday. He arrived at the White House around 10 a.m. to meet the Bidens for tea before they all set off for the Capitol.
Inauguration events kicked off Saturday, when the former and future president returned to Washington. He, along with Vice President-elect JD Vance, have been feted in receptions and a victory rally.
Their swearing-in has been forced into a Capitol Rotunda ceremony by bitterly cold weather.
