FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A man died after a broad-daylight shooting in Fayetteville Sunday afternoon, police said.
The incident was reported just before 4 p.m. in the 2200 block of Stanton Street, according to a Fayetteville Police Department news release.
"Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound," police said in the release.
EMS crews responded to the scene and took the victim to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the man was identified as Garrett Elliott, 21, of Fayetteville. His relatives were notified, police said.

The 2200 block of Stanton Street is in a neighborhood in southwest Fayetteville off Hope Mills Road. Sunday evening, police had a crime scene taped up around the home, and a red pickup truck was parked in front of the home.
"Detectives from the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating," officers said in the release.
