Deadline approaching to apply for property tax relief from January 2024 floods

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- San Diegans that lost their home or business during the historic January 2024 floods have just a few more days to apply for property tax relief.
Anyone who lost their home, business, boat or plane in the January 22, 2024 floods, with damages over $10,000, is eligible to apply for property tax relief through January 22, 2025.
San Diego flood victims still rebuilding one year after disaster
The late January storm last winter left more than 800 homes damaged across San Diego County.
The most impacted residents had 12 months from the date of damage or disaster to apply for property tax relief. The deadline is now just days away.
San Diegans can receive discounted flood insurance, thanks to federal program
If accepted, the Assessor’s Office will send a notice of a proposed new assessment to the property owner or the party responsible for the taxes.
