Woman found dead in dirt after vehicle struck her and left, Menifee police say

A woman was found dead in a dirt field after police believe she was struck in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday, Jan. 19, in Menifee.
Officers responded to a welfare check just before 7 a.m. and found a woman laying in a dirt field near McCall Boulevard and Aspel Road, east of the 215 Freeway, according to the Menifee Police Department.
The woman’s injuries showed that she had been hit by a vehicle, and officials pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the woman was in the westbound lanes of McCall, when a vehicle that was traveling in the same direction hit her and fled.
Information on the victim, including her identity, was not immediately available.
Police are trying to identify and locate the vehicle that hit the woman. They ask anyone with information to call investigators at 951-746-8829 or 951-723-1500.
