CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Local non-profit Operation Veteran Vacation is making sure veterans are receiving the vital services that they need.
Operation Veteran Vacation on a mission to help veterans transition back into civilian life. This community of veterans is making sure those who get out of the service can reunite with their families and be able to experience all of the opportunities others get to enjoy.

"When someone raises their hand and says I'm going to serve, the entire family is going with them," said State Senator John Velis. "When a veteran needs some help, whether it be physical or physiological, in many instances the family needs help too."
Through emotional, physical, and spiritual healing, the organization hopes to help other veterans in need. Now they're encouraging other veterans to join them.
"We have a meditation and motion class, which is kickboxing and meditation," Operation Veteran Vacation President and founder Justin Torrey said. "I run it, I was a professional fighter for 15 years. I run it at Fighting Arts Academy. We would really love for more veterans to come down."
If you would like to take part in their meditation and motion classes, or just be a part of this veteran community, Operation Veteran Vacation is always looking to extend their family.
"I can understand the feeling too, that it's difficult to put yourself out there. But there's a lot of veterans that want you out here with us, so join us and have fun," said veteran Peter Rooney.
