After three incredible days of hoops in Murdo, the Stanley County Buffaloes were crowned the 57th champion of the Jones County Invitational after beating the Kadoka Kougars 60-52. Kadoka got out to a hot start taking a 22-11 lead into the second quarter, and were controlling the tempo of the game. But as Stanley County does so well, they flipped an offensive switch and went on a 25-4 run to close out the first half and had all the momentum. Trailing 35-27 to start the second half, Kadoka chipped away at the deficit setting up a thrilling final quarter to finish to the tournament. The Buffaloes held off Kadoka and closed out the win and the celebration was on. Gus Stout had 14 points for Kadoka, and Kole Herman had 15. For Stanley County Kaden Montana had 17, Eddie Duffy had 14 and Paxton Deal led both teams with 18. Philip defeats White River 61-56 in 7th Place Game Game number one of the day Saturday went to the Scotties as both Talan Haynes and Christopher Lurz set the offensive tone for the final day of the tournament. Lurz finished with 20-points, and Haynes led both teams with 24. The Tiger’s Teagan Bouman had another great game with 21, but the Scotties would be able to stave off the late push and finish the Invite with a win. White River isn’t used to playing on this side of the bracket, as they had won nearly every single one of these the last 19 years. But one thing is for certain, they will be back. Bennett County defeats Jones County 48-44 The Warriors bounced back after their Thursday loss against Stanley County, getting a win over Philip on Friday and finishing with a nice win Saturday. Bennett County was efficient in their scoring, you could say, as they only saw four players finish with points. Caysen Soderlin had 12, Christin Poor Bear with 14 and Rush O’Neill with 19. Jones County had two players finish in double-digits, Bryer Kinsley with 10 and Asa Best with 12. Crazy Horse defeats Lyman 52-51 in 3rd Place Game This game was the perfect way to set the stage for the Championship game as these two teams were trading buckets all the way until the final horn. Crazy Horse found themselves in a deep hole right off the tip as they quickly went down 15-4 in the first quarter, but little by little they battled their way back. A late flurry of threes by Falcon Quiver and Devaughn Between Lodges gave Crazy Horse their first lead of the game with around six minutes remaining. As much as the outside shooting was a pro for Crazy Horse, the shooting from the line was a con for Lyman as the Raiders went 4-13 shooting free throws in the second half. There was a bit of history for Crazy Horse in this 3rd Place win too, as Donnie Ghost Dog scored his 1,000th career points, which is even more impressive when you find out he is just a junior
