Plummeting weekend temperatures

Fort Wayne saw its warmest day of the year so far on Friday, with a high in the mid-40s, thanks to a warm front ushering in warmer air. This does not last into the weekend, as a cold front has passed through this morning, bringing tumbling temperatures and arctic air.
Temperatures are tumbling through the 30s this afternoon, and they'll continue to fall throughout the rest of the day. temps fall below freezing this afternoon, so keep an eye out for slick spots on wet roadways.

Skies stay mainly cloudy for the afternoon. Colder air will continue to rush in throughout the day, so you'll need to get the coat back out, although it may not need to be the heavy-duty one.
The bulk of our rain/snow showers will conclude by daybreak, but lingering, scattered chances for snow showers stick around for the day. Very little accumulation will occur from what snowfall may remain.
Temperatures continue to fall tonight into Sunday with a morning low in the teens. Highs Sunday only reach the lower 20s. Intense cold is ushered in to start the workweek.
15 Fury Alert Days issued for extreme cold
As temperatures plummet on Sunday, single digits, and eventually, below zero temps build into the region. Lows will fall to below zero Monday morning. Highs on Monday only reach the single digits Monday. Wind chills throughout the day will range from -10 at our best to -25 in the mornings.
The same intense cold is forecast for Tuesday. Due to this, 15 Fury Alert Days are in effect due to this extreme cold on both Monday and Tuesday. A Cold Weather Watch has also been issued by the National Weather Service from Sunday night into Wednesday morning.

The bitterly cold spell ends on Wednesday, although still cold, with highs in the teens. 20s return as we trend warmer on Thursday and Friday, with 30s for next weekend. We enter a dry pattern for the upcoming week, as well, with plenty of chances for sunshine.
