MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — A Michigan City man has been arrested for possession of child pornography.
According to a press release from Indiana State Police, the suspect — 29-year-old Stephen Julius Morrow II — was identified when law enforcement executed a search warrant on a residence in the 3100 block of Springland Avenue.
Police first began looking into Morrow II's activity in May. At that time, ISP received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that indicated three videos containing child pornography had been identified.
State police launched an investigation soon after receiving the tip. ISP also discovered additional videos containing child pornography as its investigation of Morrow II continued to unfold.
Morrow II was booked into the LaPorte County Jail after he was arrested. He has been preliminarily charged with one count of possession of child pornography — a Level 5 Felony.
The maximum penalty for a Level 5 Felony in Indiana is a six-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
The Indiana Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) led the investigation of Morrow II. The ICAC encourages all Hoosiers to report online exploitation of children to the NCMEC. Reports can be made to the NCMEC here.
