MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis teen is in custody after police connected him to a fatal September shooting. On Friday, November 1, 2024, officers were in the area of Sycamore View and Shelby Oaks Drive, when they spotted a tan Toyota Camry operating with expired tags. Officers conducted a traffic stop and while checking the passengers, saw a juvenile who was a person of interest in several homicides. Teen chasing car hits another car, killing 1 injuring 3 While speaking with investigators, he confessed to being one of the people responsible for shooting and killing a man during a "robbery that went bad" at a vacant house on September 19, 2024. The juvenile said that 18-year-old Karlos Carter, his friend for two years was allegedly the second shooter in the killing. Karlos Carter. (SCSO) The juvenile claimed Carter said he needed some money and was going to rob the victim and the man he was with while they were parked in the driveway of the vacant house. The juvenile said that as he and Carter approached the car, the man driving the car saw Carter's shadow and as the man attempted to pull out of the driveway, they began shooting at the car. Victim identified in MS town square shooting; teen charged with murder According to the police report, the juvenile claimed he and Carter did not know the victim or the man he was with. Carter was arrested on Friday and charged with first-degree murder. His bail information is unknown at this time.
