SATURDAY FORECAST: Rain By Afternoon, Milder
Saturday will start off dry, but clouds will increase through the day. Rain moves in by mid afternoon and continues into the evening
Rain develops by mid afternoon, becoming a steady rain.
That steady rain continues through 8PM, possibly a little heavy at times.
Afternoon highs on Saturday will be in the mid 40s with a gusty southerly wind.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS BY SATURDAY EVENING
Rain amounts of 0.50" to 0.75" expected
LOOKING AHEAD
Sunday will start out dry, with clouds rolling back into the region. Snow arrives by mid-late afternoon. Snow will start to stick after sunset as temperatures turn colder. Any untreated roads will become slippery and slow later at night
SUNDAY AFTERNOON 3:00PM
SUNDAY NIGHT 9:00PM
That snow is expected to become widespread through the evening and continue through the overnight hours, ending before dawn Monday.
Several inches of snow possible later Sunday Night and by sunrise Monday. Stay tuned through the weekend for more on that. Impact-wise, with most of the accumulating snow falling Sunday night, then ending before dawn on MLK Day, the impacts should light to moderate -- kids are off from school and many people are off from work.
At this point we are indicating snowfall of 2-5 ".....the higher end of these numbers are favored north and west of Providence, with the lower numbers closer to south coast communities. Amounts along the immediate shoreline will range form 1-2" Check back for updates as these numbers may have to be adjusted as new data comes in.
Still some uncertainty for areas in pink. If this storm tracks a bit closer to the coast, it would allow for some rain to mix in and reducing snow amounts across southern areas and especially the south coast. Better chances of staying all snow further inland
NEXT UP: Bitterly cold air will arrive for much of next week....arriving through the day on Monday and extending into Wednesday
FRIGID AIR MONDAY THRU WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK
