BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — Officials in Bastrop are investigating after a home was destroyed overnight. The initial 911 call came in shortly before 2 a.m. to report an explosion in the 100 block of Wilbarger Cove, and Bastrop/Travis County ESD 1 responded. Officials are investigating if it was an explosion that started the fire or a fire that caused the explosion. While it is early into the investigation, officials do believe the house was vacant.
