CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - It sure has been feeling like winter lately, but it doesn't look like it with the current lack of snow on the ground. It has been pretty cold lately and now it looks like there could also be some snow on the way. If you look out your window chances are won't see much in the way of any snow on the ground but if you're planning on spending any time outside you'll want to bundle up. It's been cold and everything is freezing up. The average high temperature for this time of year at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee is usually in the lower 30s and our average low temperatures are usually in the mid-teens. Recently temperatures have been running below average. "Winter is a wonderful time there's no bugs, you can go out for a walk and there's no mosquitoes there are no horse flies," says Bill Katoski of Longmeadow. Back in early December, we saw our first accumulating snowfall but since then we haven't seen much snow. Some people 22News talked to aren't too happy with the weather we've been having so far this winter. Maria Katoski adds, "I don't think much because we have no snow and I love snow so we're hoping on Saturday and Sunday that we actually get some." You may not find much snow in the Springfield area right now but you will find plenty of it at most of the nearby ski areas. It did feel a little better out on Friday and it's looking like we may see some snow this weekend.
