LENOIR, N.C. – The City of Lenoir is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day by hosting three special events this weekend. MLK Jr. Celebration Breakfast The MLK Jr. Celebration Breakfast will start at 9:00 am Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025. Rev. Ronald Keith Banner with St. Paul AME Church will be the keynote speaker for the event. Tickets are $15 per person and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Call the MLK Jr. Center at 828-757-2170 between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday to buy tickets. MLK Jr. Celebration Gospel Singing The MLK Jr. Celebration Gospel Singing will be Sunday, Jan. 19, starting at 3:00 pm. Three groups will be performing during the event: The Gospel Messengers from Morganton, Grove Masters Band from Charlotte, and 4 Ever Faithful from Morganton. The concert is free and open to the public. MLK Jr. Day Memory March and Celebration The MLK Jr. Day Memory March will start at 1:30 pm at J.E. Broyhill Park. Participants will march from the park down Finley Avenue and Greenhaven Drive to the City of Lenoir Martin Luther King Jr. Center.  The MLK Jr. Celebration will start at 2:00 pm at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. Pastor Rocky Dula with Faith Tabernacle Church will be the guest speaker. The events are free and open to the public. The Martin Luther King Jr. Center is located at 313 Greenhaven Dr. NW in Lenoir.
