BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- At both Hamlin Park and Tapestry Charter Elementary schools, typically every Friday before a Bills game is full of Bills gear and excitement, helping inspire the younger generation of Bills fans. "I want them to become Bills fans because it brings that sense of community together" said Frank Zawodzinski, a teacher at Hamlin Park Elementary. On Friday, even more Buffalo Bills magic roamed through the halls. The Buffalo Bills and Wegmans teamed up to bring Billy Buffalo himself to these schools to add to the hype and he came bearing gifts. "This is the one day no one wanted a snow day," said Lauren Golpl, a teacher at Hamlin Park Elementary, "We are all pumped to be here to bring this moment to our kids these memories it's going to be once in a lifetime." Students received Fisher Price Little People Bills sets, Bills rally towels and even a signed photograph from Josh Allen. "The community's excited about this game, and so we just kind of thought, let's continue that momentum," Wegmans spokesperson Michele Mehaffy said. "They are pumped -- they came in and they saw Billy Buffalo and just to see the expression on their faces, they were giving them high fives, hugging him -- it's just great to be here and just the energy that the kids bring. It's pretty exciting." These younger Bills fans high fived, danced, and of course, cheered for their team. "Today just presented another opportunity for togetherness, and knowing that Wegmans and the Buffalo Bills helped provide that for our community," said Jennifer Pangborn, the head of school at Tapestry Charter Schools. that's what it's all about, and the city of Buffalo just creating those opportunities for our community to come together."
