New Bedford police arrest two on illegal arms, fentanyl and cocaine charges

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police detectives arrested two suspects in a raid on a suspected fentanyl distribution operation out of a Belleville Road apartment Monday.
Alexander Sears, 39, and Jose Lacen, 25, were both taken into custody by police during the operation.
Sears is charged with possession with intent to distribute a class A drug.
Lacen is charged with trafficking 100 grams or more of cocaine, unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a firearm while committing a felony and unlawful possession of ammunition.
During the raid, police said they seized 141.6 grams of cocaine, 4.9 grams of fentanyl, a digital scale, a calibration weight, narcotics packaging and $1,701 in cash.
Also seized were a Masterpiece Arms 9mm pistol loaded with 18 rounds of 9mm ammo, and a Taurus 9mm pistol loaded with eight rounds of 9mm ammunition, according to New Bedford police.
