Man allegedly stabs family member to death in Houma

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — A man is in police custody following a Houma homicide investigation.
According to the Houma Police Department, on Jan. 16, around 10 a.m. officers were called to the scene of a stabbing on Isabel Street.
Metairie man accused of 2024 Kenner homicide arrested
Responding officers arrived to find 75-year-old Joyce Williams suffering from multiple stab wounds to her upper body. They attempted life-saving tactics but were unsuccessful.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An investigation revealed there was a fight between Williams and her nephew 45-year-old Gregory Gaither, during which, officers said he allegedly struck and stabbed her multiple times leading to her death.
Man pleads guilty to murder in New Orleans staged crashes case
They add that Gaither stayed at the home until officers arrived. He was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a count of second-degree murder.
