Today will be the warmest day of the week and finally above freezing, but unfortunately, it won't last long. Extremely cold temperatures are coming over the weekend and next week. Temperatures will be above freezing today There will be more clouds than sunshine this morning with temperatures warming quickly into the the lower 30s by noon. Thawing temperatures will continue this morning with highs reaching the upper 30s and even some sunshine! The first of two northern fronts will move in overnight bringing rain to the area. The rain will mix with snow just before daybreak Saturday with no significant accumulation expected. Rain will fall overnight Friday and early Saturday A second clipper-type front brings frigid air to the region Saturday afternoon with early high temperatures falling from the middle 30s into the middle to upper 20s by the afternoon. 15 Fury Alert Days issued for extreme cold Temperatures continue to plummet overnight Saturday and early Sunday with a low in the teens. A few snow showers are possible before daybreak on Saturday Temperatures will continue to tumble through the teens Sunday with extremely cold air streaming in. Lows will fall to below zero on Monday morning. Wind chills will be anywhere from -10 to -25 with a 15 Fury Alert Day in effect for the extreme cold temperatures. Temperatures will again begin the day on Tuesday below zero with a high during the day only slightly above zero. Arctic air will exit Thursday with temperatures back in the 20s.
