Weekslong lane closures for Green Bay's Ray Nitschke Bridge to begin January 27
Jan 17, 2025
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - A temporary change to the drawbridge operating schedule for the Ray Nitschke Bridge in Green Bay has been announced, including lane closures for the weeks-long maintenance activities.
A Green Bay Public Works Department release states that maintenance work on the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge for Dousman and Main Streets will begin on January 27 and run through February 21.
During that time, city officials said the bridge would be secured to masted navigation, with vehicle traffic moving down to single-lane closures, which may cause backups. Ships able to pass under the bridge will continue to be able to pass under during the partial closure.

The single-lane closures, in effect along each direction on Main Street, will occur from North Broadway to North Washington Street. No detour will be posted as access to residences and business will be maintained.
On January 8, Wisconsin State Senator Eric Wimberger announced that $1.2 million in state funding will officially be used to fix the Ray Nitschke Bridge, saying the money was secured during the 2023-24 State Budget to end the "bridge’s frequent closures."
All lane and work operations are weather-dependent and subject to change.
