Temperatures are expected to rise today and tomorrow, but Kentucky is expected to see more frigid conditions going into next week. Kentucky can expect wind chill conditions to be in the single digits and could drop below zero on Monday and Tuesday mornings. During a press conference Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear said it is important for Kentuckians to look out for one another. “We need everyone out there to stay safe, check on your older relatives, check on your neighbors, make sure you have plans to stay warm during this bitter cold.” Governor Beshear said the Kentucky Emergency Management and the Department for Public Health have confirmed six deaths related to the ice and snow the commonwealth received last week. He said some of these deaths were the result of cardiac incidents from shoveling snow. “We don’t want anyone to push themselves too hard. In addition to dressing warm and staying hydrated, we need people to shovel smaller amounts of snow and to take frequent breaks even if you don’t think you need them.” Weather.gov Tips on how to stay safe while shoveling snow Warming stations will be set up across the state.
