BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Shafter Police Department responded to over 22,000 incidents last year, making a of 1,412 arrests along the way, according to an infographic the department released on social media. The department Wednesday said its officers initiated 9,290 stops. The number refers to incidents police officers made on their own observations rather than responding to a call for service. Suspect arrested in death of former KHSD police chief Steve Alvidrez Officials also reported no homicides took place in their jurisdiction in 2024. The department's post highlighted the number in a gold color. Shafter officers recorded 3,028 reports, according to the crime snapshot. Officials say the information released is meant to stay transparent while actively building trust with community members.
