LARGO, Md. (DC News Now) --The Washington Commanders are leaving Friday for Saturday night's big playoff game in Detroit against the Lions.
Despite being 500 miles away, fans are still planning for a big night at D.C. area restaurants and bars.
Workers at Jasper’s restaurant in Largo, Md. have already begun preparing. Manager Richard Jones says they usually have 12 servers working but on game day they will have 20.
“We are making sure we are fully staffed for the rush of people we are expecting, and we are preparing good food and drinks - and we will enjoy the Commanders' win hopefully,” Jones said.

Tameka President and her friend Yolanda Turner were celebrating her birthday Thursday night at Jasper’s. They are both big Commanders fans and hope Washington beats Detroit.
“I feel that the Commanders are going to win Saturday night. I feel it in my soul," President said. [T]hey will win and they will go to another playoff and we will route them on for the Superbowl."
Turner said she and her friend are considering watching the game at Jasper’s on Saturday.
“I think this is going to be an amazing and exciting game and you have two teams - both are hungry and both want this win," she said. "You have the Commanders who haven’t won in a long time."
Server Taylor Anderson said the game also means more business for Jasper’s and is a win-win for fans and her employer.
“I think this will be big for our restaurant because during the wintertime it gets slow so having everyone coming out and celebrating this game will be good money-wise for the business," Anderson said.
Jasper’s is expecting more than 400 customers to come to watch the game. The playoff showdown will be on every TV in the restaurant.
