Man gets probation for shooting that prompted Albuquerque police chief's crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The man who fired a gun, prompting Albuquerque's police chief to crash his cruiser, will not serve any additional time behind bars. Michael Mountjoy pled no contest on Thursday to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

This comes nearly a year after he shot a gun during an argument with another man near Central Ave. and Alvarado Dr. APD Chief Harold Medina, who was in the area in an unmarked, department-issued pickup, said he sped off to avoid the gunfire when he crashed into a 1966 Ford Mustang.
As part of his plea deal, Mountjoy was sentenced to 18 months of probation.
