BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization held its annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet Tuesday night at the Bismarck Amvets Club Post 9. The event honored the volunteers who dedicate their time to helping veterans and their families.
DAV connects veterans to benefits, medical care, and other essential services.
In 2024, DAV volunteers logged more than 1,000 hours across a range of services:
Drivers covered 12,015 miles to get veterans to appointments.
Park volunteers worked 130.5 hours maintaining spaces for the community.
The Honor Guard gave 98.5 hours to show respect at ceremonies.
Kitchen workers spent 143 hours preparing meals for veterans.
Other volunteers contributed 368 hours to meet various needs.

Burleigh County VSO Mark Landis said the event is meant to recognize the people who support all of their programs.
"The drivers who take veterans to their appointments, we also started serving community meals, and so we have people volunteer for that, and so this is to show them how much we appreciate what they do," Landis said.
