Grandmother shoots on MSCS property after kid threatens to flip her car: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A grandmother fired a gun at a community center that is connected to a Memphis Shelby County School on Wednesday after one of the kids her grandson was fighting threatened to flip her car over, police say.
It all started when Memphis Police responded to a complaint call at Mitchell Community Center which is connected to Mitchell High School on 602 West Mitchell Road.
Administrators at the scene told officers they saw Joyce Brown fire a shot into the ground when a fight between her grandson and another child got out of control. They say the parking lot was full of children who ran after the shooting.

Police say security cameras also caught the incident on video.
Brown was taken to the police station where she gave a statement admitting to firing a shot into the ground due to a kid talking about flipping her car.
Joyce Brown, 72, is charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, carrying a weapon on school property, unlawful possession of a weapon-public place, and child abuse and neglect or endangerment.

She is currently held in jail on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to face a judge on Friday morning.
