Temps received a big boost today - reaching the low 30s. For tonight, we drop back to the low 20s and, tomorrow, high temperatures climb even higher, into the mid-30s. This is a pleasant, temporary, warm up before a dangerous cold snap hits the area early next week. Temps fall only into the 20s tonight. Not as cold as nights earlier this week. 15 Fury Alert Days have been issued for Monday and Tuesday, due to this extreme cold. 15 Fury Alert Days issued for extreme cold It won't be as cold overnight, as compared to other nights this week, with low temperatures falling into the lower 20s. A mostly cloudy Friday is coming our way, but strong, southerly winds will continue to send in some relatively pleasant January air that will get our temps back into the 30s in the afternoon. Know that we'll have some occasional windy moments with top gusts reaching 30 mph. Precipitation begins as rain, in most spots, late Friday night before changing to snow overnight into Saturday morning. Conditions remain dry during the day, but our next weather system will move in just before midnight into early Saturday. Rain falls first before changing over to some snow. This transition will happen overnight into early Saturday morning. Rain transitions to wet snow overnight Friday to Saturday. At this point, snow amounts are looking to be on the lighter side in NE Indiana and NW Ohio, 1" or less. However, there still may be some travel troubles early Saturday morning across the region. After the rain changes to snow early Saturday morning, only light snow accumulations will result. Temperatures will be in the middle 30s Saturday morning at daybreak and will fall throughout the day landing in the middle 20s by late in the afternoon. Temperatures will continue to tumble Sunday with a high only in the middle teens in the morning. By early Monday morning, our temp will fall below 0°, down to -3°. Wind chill values will range from -10° to -20° all day on both Monday and Tuesday. Remember, these are 15 Fury Alert Days. These will be 2 of the most dangerously cold days of the season. Avoid spending long periods of time outdoors and be on alert for closings and cancellations. A COLD blast of winter air arrives early next week. High temperatures will only be in the single digits both on Monday on Tuesday. Below zero morning temps are forecasted not just on Monday morning, but on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, as well.
