Jan 16, 2025
BEE CAVE, Texas (KXAN) -- February will be a special month for the cities of Bee Cave and Lakeway.
The two cities will host the Special Olympics Texas 2025 Winter Games from Feb. 13-16.
The City of Bee Cave made a Facebook post on Thursday about the games, saying in part, "We are thrilled to announce that Special Olympics Texas is coming to our community!"
"Our beautiful cities will host this special event, bringing athletes, families, and fans together for an unforgettable celebration of sportsmanship and inclusion," the post continued.
The city said the event will be a partnership between the cities, their mayors, police departments, and residents.
Volunteers are also needed for the games. The SOTX website says volunteers are needed in several roles, such as scorekeepers, award presenters, set up and tear down meals, and selling merchandise. Shifts range from 3-8 hours and no prior experience is needed in most roles, according to the posting.
Those interested in volunteering can sign up online. More information about the 2025 Winter Games, including a schedule, can be found on the SOTX website.
