Police identify woman's body found in Springfield's Forest Park

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The woman's body that was found in Springfield's Forest Park last week has been identified.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on January 7th, officers were sent to the 300 block of Trafton Road. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman dead. The Hampden District Attorney’s Office Spokesperson Elijah Ayers said in a news release that the body was in the Camp Star Angelina area of Forest Park.
On Thursday, the DA's office released the identity of the woman as 56-year-old Joann Garelli of West Springfield.
The investigation is being conducted by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the Springfield Police Detective Bureau’s Homicide Unit.
