20yearold man charged with abduction in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Thursday morning, Petersburg Bureau of Police arrested a man in connection to an abduction in which three people were barricaded in a room inside of a home on East Wythe Street.
At 4:37 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, Petersburg police responded to a report of an armed barricaded suspect in a room with three other people inside.
When officers arrived to the 500 block of East Wythe Street, two of the three victims were able to leave the room and the weapon was surrendered over. According to police, the third victim was assisted out of the room through a back window.
Petersburg police said officers entered the room efforts were made to get the suspect to surrender, eventually taking the suspect into custody.
Twenty-year-old Caleb Fletcher was identified by police as the suspect. He was charged with the following felonies:
Obstruction by Force
Brandishing a machete
Felony destruction of property
Two counts of assault on law enforcement
Three counts of abduction
Fletcher is currently being held at Riverside Regional Jail with a pending court appearance.
