SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Received a text about parking citations in San Diego? Local officials are warning the public to be aware of a phishing scam impersonating the city's webpage. The fraudulent text message via SMS contains instructions to click a link and pay the balance online, the City of San Diego said in a news release Wednesday. "The City’s cybersecurity team is working with authorities, including the San Diego Police Department, to take down the fraudulent webpage and identify those responsible," the release said. "Anyone who receives the parking citation message in a text message is urged NOT to follow the links and to avoid entering credit card or payment information."
