CSPD: Suspect arrested for starting fire at downtown business

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Downtown Area Response Team (DART) responded to a disturbance overnight and arrested a man after he allegedly started a fire in a large business complex.
At around 1:25 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the area of South Tejon Street and West Colorado Avenue in downtown Colorado Springs. Upon arrival, officers located a security guard in a fight with a suspect.
An investigation revealed that the security guard had confronted the suspect due to a fire that the suspect allegedly started in the stairway of a large business complex. The suspect then attacked the security guard, causing minor facial injuries to the victim.
The building only suffered from cosmetic damage.
Police said the suspect, Victor G. Gregory, was arrested and booked into the Criminal Justice Center for arson and assault.
