Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much. The Memphis Grizzlies are in town for two games, one tonight and another on Friday, and they’re always a tough matchup for the Silver and Black. It’s not just Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr, as they also have a talented group of supporting players: Desmond Bane always shoots the lights out against San Antonio, and Brandon Clarke has played well off the bench. Both Jaylen Wells and Zach Edey are big contributors as rookies, and Santi Aldama is having a terrific season. Coming off their big win against the Lakers, the Spurs want to continue on their positive trajectory in the next couple of games as they head off for Paris in about a week for a two game series against the Pacers. Jeremy Sochan is still out of the lineup with back tightness, so the Spurs will have a size disadvantage, especially when Wembanyama has to sit. It will be interesting to see how Coach Mitch Johnson handles the lineups to keep the Spurs in the game and rested for a late game push if needed. Another solid game from the old guys (Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes) will be necessary for the Spurs to raise their record over .500 tonight, so let’s watch and find out. Pounding the Rock on Playback Game Prediction: Ja Morant will jump above the rim for a spectacular 360° dunk attempt, but Wembanyama will send it back where it came from.
