PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Dog owners will soon have a new place to bring their pups to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors. The city announced Wednesday that it has signed a lease agreement with Hope Artiste Village to transform one of its parking lots near Morley Field into a dog park. "Expanding greenspace and providing more recreational opportunities for our residents is a top priority," Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien said. "This partnership with Hope Artiste Village will not only address a growing demand for dog-friendly spaces, but also complement our efforts of revitalizing a portion of Morley Field, and our recent purchase of Riverside Cemetery." "These projects reflect our commitment to a greener, more connected community," he continued. The new dog park will be located off of Esten Avenue and span nearly 5 acres. It's unclear exactly when the dog park will open. The city plans to share more details regarding the design and construction of the park in the coming months.
