Weather forecast: Light snow lingers with eyes on arctic air next week
Jan 15, 2025
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Lake effect snow showers will start migrating northward as wind begin shifting from the west to southwest tonight. That will kill the lake effect component, but we'll keep pockets of snow in the forecast through Thursday as a chunk of energy swings on by.
By Friday afternoon we climb into the lower 30s and the wind picks up.
A large cold front will move in Saturday and lower pressure along it will trigger a rain and snow mix.. Colder air rushes in Sunday, but any large storm system by that point will be too far east to impact WNY. Temperatures will be tumbling through the day Sunday with implications on our Bills game.
Cold is going to be a factor in Sunday's Bills-Ravens matchup. Temperatures in the teens (perhaps even upper single digits) with wind chills near zero at times are likely. That's cold, but at least we're outpacing the arrival of the true arctic air early next week. #Billsmafia pic.twitter.com/WsPsbjMkkF— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) January 15, 2025
Brutally cold air continues to be our main headline into next week.
