KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- We may know more on Thursday about how the city plans to celebrate should the Chiefs make NFL history with a Super Bowl three-peat. 2023's celebration ended in gunfire and left an innocent bystander dead following the Union Station rally.   FOX4 attended two different press events with Mayor Quinton Lucas on Wednesday. One was about how the city is expanding its capacity for electric vehicle charging to more neighborhoods.  Patrick Mahomes talks birth of baby girl ahead of Texans matchup "For planning purposes, we do the Chiefs bet tomorrow," Mayor Lucas said that morning. "I'll talk about all the good questions related to it then. Thank you so much." Another event was at the Tony Aguirre Community Center on the west side. The city is now building an outdoor pool there. At that event, FOX4 asked Mayor Lucas about the Kansas City Star article that hinted that if the Chiefs win a third Super Bowl in a row, there may not be a celebration rally at Union Station. Of course, none of this matters if the team doesn't win three games in a row here in January and February, no plans have been finalized either. "There is an opportunity for me to discuss that tomorrow morning," Mayor Lucas said at Tony Aguirre. "So, we'll look forward to doing that too." In February of 2023, local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan was shot and killed at the Chiefs' rally outside of Union Station. More than 20 others were hurt that day. "That was scary for everyone involved," Lawrence resident Isaac Grant said on Wednesday. "It was a big shock to the city ultimately." Other fans in Union Station understand if the city and Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation decide not to have a rally outside there after a parade. The Sports Commission would not return our email, however. "I did come into town maybe about a week or so after it happened," Kansas City, MO visitor Alani De La Cruz said. "We came here actually, and there was still confetti on the floor and everything, and it was just a little unreal to see the aftermath of everything that had happened that I read about." De La Cruz lives in Texas, but her boyfriend Grant, goes to the University of Kansas. "He was actually going to come to the rally," De La Cruz continued. "I forgot what had happened, but he didn't come after all, so it was just scary knowing that he could have been there when that happened." "I'm sad about it," Blue Springs resident Holly Beyer said Wednesday. "I wish we could do it, and everybody would be safe. We'd be celebrating for the right reasons." How much are Chiefs tickets for the Divisional Round? Mayor Lucas elaborated more at Tony Aguirre. "I think we'll go ahead and have that full conversation tomorrow morning," he said when asked if the city was having trouble with insurance companies willing to insure a post-Super Bowl event. "We've made an opportunity for that, 10:45 at LC's Bar-B-Q." Thursday morning, Mayor Lucas will make a bet with Houston Mayor John Whitmire on the outcome of the Texans-Chiefs game on Saturday. He'll also talk more about how the city could celebrate if the Chiefs win their third Super Bowl in a row.
