PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Mayor Brett Smiley has unveiled the five new appointments to the Providence School Board. Two of the appointees have children who attend Providence schools. Three have healthcare backgrounds, and three have already worked with the Providence School Board. The five will be introduced to the city council on Thursday before the council and committee on finance vote to approve Smiley’s appointments. The candidates would then be sworn in February.
