KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- More than one year after the deaths of three Kansas city men, in the backyard of their friend's home, their families still have no answers. "If they're going to charge somebody, let's charge them. If they're not, explain to me why,” Rickie Johnson, the father of one of the victims, said. Two sisters killed in deadly I-435 crash identified by Kansas City police His plea for answers comes as a spokesperson for the Kansas City Missouri Police Department tells FOX4 that they plan to have an update on the case by the end of the week. Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson and David Harrington were all found dead in their friend's Northland backyard on January 9, 2024. Sources told FOX4 after their deaths, toxicology reports revealed the men died from fentanyl- laced cocaine. But questions remain: Who provided the deadly drugs? Will anyone be held accountable? The parents understand the choice that their children made, but they say they just want answers as to who laced these drugs. "Let's get this settled, let's figure out what went on and get to the end of it,” Johnson said. More than a year later, not much has changed at the Northland home where this all happened, besides the fact that there is a new occupant living inside, although they didn't answer when FOX4 went by on Tuesday. Kansas City police say suspect in custody after shooting, standoff But one thing has changed: The heightened level of frustration from the families of these three men. "None at all – Platte County, I don't know what they're doing – if they've dropped it. I've called two or three times and they don't even return my calls," Johnson said. He isn’t alone. The mother of David Harrington, Jennifer Marquez, shared a post a few days ago saying, “we still don't know anything and it makes this all that much harder.” FOX4 took their concerns straight to the prosecutor's office, and they seemed confused by our line of questioning. "I mean, they may be saying they are not hearing from us as far as the investigation and the details, we can't give them that either,” Tanya Faherty with the Platte County Prosecutor's Office said. The families allege prosecutors haven't spoken to them since the end of January of last year. "I promise you it's still being worked on. It's not been forgotten, their loved members are not forgotten. It is being worked on by KCPD and by our office,” Faherty said. Again, KCPD tells FOX4 they hope to have an update for everyone by the end of this week, which is welcome news for these families who understand what happened, but feel entitled to answers as would anyone.
