Two police officers needed to be hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, officials said, after they responded to an apartment fire in North Philly early Sunday. According to police, the incident happened at about 4 a.m., when officers responded to a fire at an apartment complex located along the 1 400 block of North 15th Street in North Philadelphia on Sunday. The building was evacuated and no residents or others were injured in the incident, officials said. But, two police officers needed to be taken to nearby hospitals after suffering from smoke inhalation, officials said. The officers, officials said, were listed in stable condition. The fire, police said, was placed under control by about 4:30 a.m. Police did not immediately provide further information on the incident and haven’t said how many people may have been displaced by the fire.
