WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Next week, the best figure skaters in the nation will converge on Wichita's Intrust Bank Arena for the 2025 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Some of the skaters are the same ones who will compete in the Winter Olympics next year in Milan, Italy. (AP Photo/Laurent Cipriani) The tournament will also put the spotlight on Wichita as a lot of the competition will air on NBC, USA Network, and Peacock. This week, Visit Wichita and Intrust Bank Arena are getting ready for all the attention. On Tuesday, workers were hanging banners on the light poles outside Intrust Bank Arena. On Thursday, they will install the ice, which will be built up in layers on top of the arena's hockey ice. They will also put up the signs inside the arena. This is the first time the U.S. Figure Skating Championships have been held in Kansas, and Visit Wichita says it could have a significant economic impact on Wichita because of all the visitors coming to town. It is also a unique opportunity for Kansans to see the top figure skaters in the nation compete in person. Tickets are still available through Select-A-Seat. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness these skaters as they make history with their showstopping performances in the leadup to the International Skating Union World Figure Skating Championships in Boston in March as well as the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan," Susie Santo, president and CEO of Visit Wichita, said in a news release.
