Sports in Brief: Miners Red hockey rallies to take down UCI North on the road Monday

Miners: The Miners Red hockey squad took down UCI North Monday 9-3 on the road. While Park City fell behind 3-1 in the first period, they rallied and scored four goals in the second and third. Cooper Ford had a hat trick for the Miners Red, and Cody Wheelwright and Hunter Hutchinson each had two goals. Park City will take on Herriman Wednesday on the road at 8:45 p.m.The Miners boys basketball squad fell in a close contest to Stansbury Friday 77-72. Park City took an eight point lead into the half, being outscored by 11 points in the fourth quarter. The Miners were scheduled to be back in action Tuesday night, at home against another regional foe in Murray. Park City will also take on Jordan at home Friday night at 7 p.m.The Miners girls basketball squad fell by one point Friday to Stansbury 39-38. Underclassmen Hadley Flech and Sophia Dunkel led Park City in scoring, each with nine points. Miners freshman Avery Johnson also added eight points Friday. Park City was next scheduled to face Murray Tuesday at home. The Miners will also take on Jordan Friday at home, at 5:15 p.m.The Miners wrestling teams found further success at their respective invites over the weekend. The girls team saw star wrestlers Noa Omessi and Abigail Pray finish third and sixth, respectively, in their weight divisions at the Rockwood Rumble event. The boys team had Eli Olsen and Parker Taix each finish fifth in their divisions at the Redhawk Rumble competition. Hudson Phillips also claimed eighth in his division at the Redhawk Rumble. The teams will face Tooele Thursday at home, at 6:30 p.m., and the girls team will wrestle in the Mountain View tournament Friday. The Miners White hockey squad will be taking on Skyline Wednesday night at home. That game will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena.
