Indy Parks to open warming center before temperatures plummet

INDIANAPOLIS -- The City of Indianapolis has opened an overnight warming center on the city's near northeast side to help those in need as central Indiana braces for severe wind chills and dropping temperatures.
According to a news release, Washington Park will function as a temporary warming center starting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. until Thursday, Jan. 16. The park is located at 3130 E. 30th Street. Hours at the park have been extended from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The release added that no sign-in is required ahead of time. All Indy Parks Family Centers will remain open and be available to visitors as warming centers.
