BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Fire Department is expanding its services with a new medic squad at Station 42 in east Bakersfield. Medic Squad 42 debuted Jan. 12 and is the third specialized unit within the Kern County Fire Department. According to fire officials, the squad is staffed with a Firefighter Paramedic and a Fire Captain. Fire officials say the area experiences over 5,000 calls annually.
