ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Brynn King has become the first in her sport to sign a major NIL (name, image, likeness) deal with Adidas, Roberts Wesleyan University announced in a Facebook post Monday!
The Roberts Wesleyan graduate and pole vaulter from the Woodlands, Texas, is the first college pole vaulter to land an agreement with a major shoe company.
Coached by 2005 Roberts Alum and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Jehn Suhr, King has broken multiple NCAA Division II records and became the colleges first NCAA champion, qualifying for the Paris U.S. Olympic team.
Before coming to Wesleyan in 2023 from Duke University, King had never topped 14 feet before doing so at the Olympic qualifiers. Her surprise berth at the Paris games was one of the top surprises at the trials.
The jump toped King’s personal record by two inches and knocked out former silver medalist Sandi Morris, who won her silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
This season, King is already off to a good start. She was named East Coast Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week and National Christian College Athletic Association National Field Athlete of the week after her performance in Akron and the USTFCCCA Division II Women's Athlete of the week for her performance in Susquehanna.
