ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – On the corner of First and Marble near downtown sits one of Albuquerque's most beloved sports for a cold one. "We've always admired Marble, we've always kind of revered their position in Albuquerque especially," said Bert Boyce, one of the new managing partners of Marble Brewery.

Late last year, word spread on social media and within the beer industry that Marble's future was on the rocks. Fast forward to today, Bert Boyce and Jarrett Babincsak are the new owners. Formerly with Santa Fe Brewing Co., the duo jumped at the chance to save the Albuquerque brewery. "When we heard there was an opportunity to steward a brand like Marble, that we both had a great affinity for, it seemed like the perfect opportunity fell in our laps," said Babincsak.
Just starting their second week on the job, the pair said they are still getting a lay of the land. "Every day's a new day. We have so many people to meet, so much listening to do, so many questions to ask," said Boyce. "We really want to find out from everyone who works here what their experience has been, what they would like to see improved."
He said there is some equipment that needs upgrading. They also said there are things to change but also a lot to keep. "One of the things that we're going to really focus on is bringing a new level of energy and enthusiasm into the operation...while also being very mindful of what got Marble to where it is and the love and affection that people have for the Marble brand," said Babincsak.
The new owners are excited for what's to come. "Marble is an amazing brand. It's amazing culture. Albuquerque is a beautiful place. I think being able to bring all those things together, there's no reason to be anything other than excited," said Babincsak.
But as for what's exactly being brewed up, the duo said it's too soon to say what could be in the works. "What does the future look like? Right now, the future is let's get everything settled, give everyone that big sigh of relief," said Boyce.
But one thing is for sure, the two said they are committed to keeping the community at the heart of Marble Brewery. "I want Marble to be so ingrained in Albuquerque community, the way it was when I first moved here," said Boyce.
"That's one thing that I would like to see us really do a good job of is being a connector in the community both to create spaces where people feel like they can come enjoy friends and family, good dialogue, and conversation, but also to play our role in the community," said Babincsak.
Marble Brewery first opened in 2008.
