A New Jersey teacher was arrested for making “terroristic threats” that led Montclair Public Schools to close Monday. Amir Doctry was arrested around 8 a.m. for making a threat to another staffer cops were made aware of Sunday, according to the Montclair Police Department. Police said the alleged threat was made on social media, but didn’t details its specifics. “Montclair Detectives in collaboration with the Montclair Board of Education, The Essex County Prosecutors Office, and the FBI, worked throughout the night to identify the source of the threat,” police wrote on Facebook. Authorities said Doctry is currently on administrative leave from the school where he worked; the school was not named. Montclair Local News reported Doctry had taught at Renaissance Middle School and the alleged threat was directed at a Northeast Elementary School staffer. He was apprehended without incident at a home in Philadelphia. A LinkedIn page that appears to belong to the educator describes him as having worked as a special education instructor with the Montclair Public School system. Montclair police assured the public that area schools were closed Monday as a precautionary measure and there’s no longer reason for concern. The school district is located roughly 20 miles west of Lower Manhattan.
