CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Wildfires in Los Angeles continue to burn with no end in sight. At least 24 people have died as a result of the fires, with countless buildings destroyed. These fires are tearing through heavily populated areas and weather conditions are expected to keep these fires burning through this week. Multiple crews put out garage fire in Ludlow, one left without a home The California Department of Forestry and Fire estimates that nearly 40,000 acres have burned in and around the Los Angeles area, which is ten times what Massachusetts experienced during its most recent fire season. Chief Fire Warden Dave Celino explained how these fires intensified so quickly. "This time LA unfortunately was right in the bullseye," Celino said. "And it received 80 to 100 mile an hour wind gusts, and that really drove the fire behavior for this period of time." The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning through 6:00 p.m. on Friday for areas in Los Angeles and Ventura County, with wind gusts potentially reaching the 60s during the next two days.
