Wegmans to expand into Pittsburgh region

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Wegmans is expanding its reach in Pennsylvania with plans to open a new location in the Pittsburgh region.
Although a majority of its 111 stores are located in the Greater Rochester area, it's home-base, 19 locations can be found in Pennsylvania, two of them are in Erie. This will be its first store in the area of Cranberry Township.
The new location will be located on Cool Springs Drive, and will take up approximately 115,000 square feet, according to Monday's announcement.

“We’ve received thousands of requests for a Wegmans in the Pittsburgh region since opening our first Pennsylvania store over 30 years ago,” announced Dan Aken, vice president of real estate and store planning.
The Pittsburgh store is expected to hire 400-500 employees. A timeline for its opening is not yet clear, according to officials.
