Inside the ultimate Broncos fan cave
Jan 11, 2025
(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Southern Colorado, your Denver Broncos are playing in the playoffs on Sunday, Jan. 12. While excitement builds for the team's first playoff game since 2016, there's one special stop that every Broncos fan needs to make: Kevin and Sue Nunn's converted firehouse turned Broncos shrine in Pueblo.
"Hi! Welcome to the Nunns' Broncos house. Come on in." Kevin Nunn greets us with the enthusiasm of a true fan and steps inside. It's clear: Broncos Country isn't just in Denver. It's right here in Pueblo too.
The Nunns' firehouse, which they purchased at auction in 2013, has been transformed into the ultimate tribute to the Denver Broncos. Every inch of the space, from the floor to the ceiling, is covered in memorabilia, much of it a personal collection the couple has been amassing since the 1970s. One wall features row after row of helmets, starting with just one shelf that has now expanded into a sprawling display. With bobbleheads, jerseys, and even a few Super Bowl trophies, this place is a paradise for any Broncos fan.
“It started with one shelf,” Kevin explains, laughing as he gestures to the growing collection. “Then we needed another, then another. And now we have a firehouse for it.”
The Nunns' journey to acquiring the firehouse wasn't a typical one. Kevin used to park his truck next door at the local auction house, but when the city told him he could no longer do so, he figured he'd ask if he could buy the lot. The firehouse was up for auction and, despite initial doubts, Kevin and Sue snagged the building for a steal, thanks to a timing stroke of luck.
"We were just trying to find a place to park our truck," Kevin said. "It was a tough time for Pueblo, and people weren't bidding. The place was in rough shape, but we saw potential."
They spent countless hours cleaning up, tearing down old walls, and painting. The result? A 1976 firehouse turned Broncos wonderland that's now the talk of the town.
Locals know exactly where to find it: just look for the Broncos-themed building painted in orange and blue. It’s impossible to miss.
While they’ve had some requests to give tours, Kevin and Sue keep it casual, saying they’re not running a business. It’s all about enjoying the Broncos together.
The neighborhood knows the house well, and locals often stop by to check out the latest additions to the collection. There's an impressive collection of signed, game-worn jerseys, several banners from the old stadium, and countless artifacts donated by friends and fellow Broncos enthusiasts. Kevin chuckles, recalling how his friends love to surprise him with rare items.
“They’ll say, ‘I got this, you don’t have it,’” Kevin says with a grin. “It’s like a game—everyone’s trying to find something we don’t have.”
Despite a few tough years for the Broncos, the Nunns' passion for the team has never wavered. The firehouse has become a gathering place for friends and family, especially for away games. For every Broncos home game, Kevin and Sue make the two-hour trek to Denver to cheer their team on as season ticket holders, sitting in the second row in the club section. But when the Broncos are on the road, the Nunns host a party at the firehouse.
While the team may face tough competition this playoff season, they know with the Nunns in their corner, victory is on the horizon.
"I hope Von Miller still loves the Broncos as much as he says he does," Kevin laughed, referring to the former Bronco now with the Buffalo Bills. "I really don't want him hurting Bo Nix," he added.
For the Nunns, it’s more than just about winning—it’s about the joy of being part of Broncos Country. No matter the outcome of Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, the Nunns will keep cheering, because that’s what true fans do.
“We’re Bo-lievers,” Sue said, nodding firmly. “Go Broncos!”
