(KRON) -- Californians who are willing to pay up to ensure they are protected from fires can turn to privatized fire protection companies.
Joe Torres, a firefighter on the central coast, created All Risk Shield. He says he's saved homes in places where others have burned.
All Risk Shield's most popular bundles range from $4,500 to $12,000 in price. Torres offers a variety of services.

"If you have any inkling that you may need some sort of assessment or to get eyes on your property, get it done," he said. "Get that information that you need, get it in hand and get to work."
The process begins with an employee walking the property and identifying ways to create better defensible space. All Risk Shield also uses long-term fire retardant.
The business offers to facilitate pool pumps to help firefighters use that water and for fire experts to monitor customers' properties during Red Flag Warnings.
Torres has customers across the Bay Area, but most are in wine county.
