Aoi Trio was founded in 2016 Kosuke Akimoto, a pianist, Kyoko Ogawa, a violinist, and Yu Ito, a cellist, who are alumni of Tokyo University of the Arta and Chamber Music Academy of Suntory Hall.
The group's name originates from the first letters of each member's last name, and also refers to the name of a flower in Japanese, which symbolizes aspiration.
The Maui concert is set to include works by Beethoven, Dvořák and Toshio Hosokawa.
