Arlington postpones new speed safety camera program due to weather and school closings

ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) -- Officials delayed the start of a new speed safety camera program in Arlington due to inclement weather and school closings.
In a news release published Friday, Arlington officials said that their new PhotoSPEED program safety cameras' 30-day warning period would now start on Monday, Jan. 13.

The program installed new safety cameras at critical school safety locations to help improve safety for students going to and from school.
Cameras are in the following locations:
NB 700 block of N. George Mason Drive
WB 5800 block of Little Falls Road
WB 4100 block of Lorcom Lane
SB 2500 block of S. Arlington Ridge Road
EB 5800 block of Williamsburg Boulevard
SB 1000 block of N. McKinley Road
EB 3500 block of 2nd Street S.
NB 1600 block of N. Veitch Street
Another camera was planned to be installed at NB 1600 block of N. Glebe Rd., but that has been postponed as officials wait for permits from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
